Day 20: Last Schoolday & Trafalgar Square

Friday, 23/August/2013

Today was my very last day at school. A bit sad.. It's the weirdest feeling ever to say goodbye to someone you might never see again! With some people I'll definitley keep the contact but still it's weird. Not a big fan of goodbyes. Honestly.. :/ But I was glad to be sure that I and Daria will still see each other on Saturday. :) At least we had one whole day left!

I never thought I'd say something like this about classes but I'll miss the EF school! Yes, it was fun studying there. Who would've thought that school can actually be fun, haha! :D

doors

The last picture/gif are almost all of the doors in Roupell Street (where EF school is). It's a really cool thing to walk past these doors almost everyday :) Colorfull way to start a day. :D

After visiting Harrods me and Daria went to Vapiano near Oxford Street and ate some delicious pizza!

Then we decided to buy some Baklava at Trucadero and eat it at on top of the Nelson's Column. My favourite place to be. We sat there for hours and watched the cars go by. It was just beautiful!

After having a English Tea at Nero I went to Green Park station to walk to Buckingham Palace. The park is beautiful. I really liked the Canadian memorial near the Palace. At Buckingham Palace I saw some guy drawing different pieces of the palace in a scretch book. It looked really beautiful. I went on to take pictures

Day 19: Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square,....

Thursday, 22/August/2013

This morining it was raining cats and dogs! haha! Just kidding, it's just an english expression and it was raining ordinary water drops. ;) But still the weather caused a general oversleeping in class.^^ In the end we were almost complete and could do little funny sketches in class in which we had to use english expressions with animals (for example "as blind as a bat", "crows' feet" or "a old wise owl"). It was really funny!

I already finished school at 12:05 which meant that I could join the excursion to the Tower of Londom at 12:15! Tristan and about 14 other students also went there. The ticket costed around 18 Pound (bring you students ID card!). At the entrance I met a girl called Anya from Russia (also studying at EF). Together we explored theTower of London. Beautiful rooms, crowns and views! Sadly we couldn't see the Crown Jewels because there was such a long queue in front of entrace for the Crown Jewels and we already spent a lot of time looking at the other rooms and expositions.

Afterwards I took a bus to Trafalgar Square. Taking the bus was on the spur of the moment because I originally planned on traveling on the tube when I randomly saw a bus going to Trafalgar Square stoping right next to me! And generally I prefer the bus because you get to see sp much while the drive!

I left the bus at St. Paul's Cathedral stop and toured the just named Cathedral. It is an amzing church! I mostly love the little parks around the church and the square in front where you have a great view on the Cathedral.

I got back to the bus stop  to continue my trip to Trafalgar Square. I've actually already been there when we went to the National Gallery with class but I had no chance to take some pictures then. I'm going to upload them AND the pictures + stories from Buckingham Palace tomorrow. It was a long day. Too long for one blog post. ;) I hope you're looking forward tomorrow!

Goodnight everyone! Laila xxx

Day 18: Hyde Park

Wednesday, 21/August/2013

At 11o'clock I met Vincent (German, from EF school) at Starbucks at the Waterloo East Station. With the Bakerloo Line we went to Oxford Circus and visited the Liberty House. It's a pretty big (not as big as Selfridges for example but still enormous) mall offering brands like  McQueen, Westwood, Beckham, McCartney, Wang etc... and also decorative furniture, porcelain and much more. Inside you'll also find a flower shop .

Before school we went to eat something. Near our school is a little park that is next to a church and in front of the church are little booths that sell different food. For example Falafel (we tried a few for free :D) or Lamb Kebap. I later went to the Waterloo Station and ate an amazing Bagel with Bacon, Tomato and cream cheese! Recommendable!

At 14:20 my class started and at 15:55 I had iPad lesson which was really fun! We learned about Richard Branson the owner of the "Virgin" company. It's amazing which companies all belong to him. Click here if you're interested in the video we watched. I finished school at 18:50 and went to Knightsbridge together with Marina from Russia to meet Daria there. Stupidily we took the wrong exit at the station so we had to walk about 7 minutes to the other exit, haha! In the end we finally found each other and made our way to Hyde Park. On our way we passed Harrods, highlife hotels and luxury houses. I would not dislike living there. But inly if my family, relatives and friends will join me. :D

After about 10 minutes (and the realization we colud've meet at the station "Hyde Parks Corner") we reached the entrance of Hyde Park.

The park is giant! Plenty of joggers, bikers, roller skaters and promenader are scattered around in the park. People playing football or training in a kind of boot camp! There's much going on in the park.

Day 17: Natural History Museum

Tuesday, 20/August/2013

I overslept! For the first time in London actually. haha! I was supposed to get up at 10:45 and got up at 11:30 instead. I had 15 minutes to get ready and catch my train. Believe it or not: I made it!

My first lesson was General Class with my new teacher Maria Tennant. New because I changed from the C1.1 course to the C1.2 course (which means my Englisch improved, yay!!).

At 14:20 I had the Cambridge English Level Test. I was a bit excited in the beggĂnning because there were about 50 Multiple choice questions and long texts to read. But the time we had was perfectly right for me. I felt really relieved after writing the test and was looking forward visiting the Natural History Museum together with Tristan from my new class.

We had to take Picadilly Line to Knightsbridge (well, that's what I thought). It appeared that leaving the Subway at South Kensington would've saved us 15 minutes of walking. However we got to see some beautiful buildings!

The Museum (free as almost every museum in London which is pretty cool) was divided into different halls. One was about fossils, one about insects, another one about dinosaurs (my favorite and i took the most pictures there), etc...

The musuem itself was stunning! I loved the style of the architectur.
